LCWA Volunteers Pursuing State Grants for LCWA
As you know, LCWA is managed by volunteers from the community, and they work hard to manage all aspects of a non-profit ISP’s business. One recent project our volunteer management team has taken on is to seek grants from the state to expand our internet delivery capabilities. Reason: in the next few years, we want to take on some very big jumps in technology, way beyond our current backbone tweaks. Our goal is to gain even greater speed, reliability, and coverage area. However, such big jumps in technology require major funding, thus the grant applications,
These grant applications take a lot of work and so LCWA volunteer management is working nose-to-the-grindstone to submit all the necessary information. It’s a long and arduous process, with tons of paperwork and legal hoops to jump through. We’ve already passed the first milestones and are hopeful for the rest.
Many thanks go to the team working on this project including the current LCWA president, Joel Yelich, vice president Rob Hausman, board director Julian Winter, Treasurer Eddie Lewis, and more. This is just another example of our volunteer-supported, non-profit model in action, and yet another nod to the volunteer heroes who help our service keep running and improving.
