New LCWA Billing and Speed Tier Names

New LCWA Billing and Speed Tier Names

Your May 10 (2024) invoice will reflect a new naming system for our billing speed tiers. Specifically, we are changing the names of each of our subscription tiers to names that match FCC recommended ones. Reason? It gets us ahead of possible upcoming federal regulations. But mainly, it allows us to make even more speed improvements in the future without constant updating of our website and billing systems to display new numbers.

The new tiers also reflect the new faster speeds we rolled out in early April, as you will see below. The new tier names you will see on your future billing statement and website are these:

Basic: This name will replace the old “Up to 7Mbps” speed tier that currently costs $40 a month. Members in this tier could now see top speeds between 10 and 15 Mbps in their speed deliveries. Pricing remains the same as the old “Up to 7Mbps” tier.

Medium: This name will replace the old “Up to 12Mbps” speed tier. Members in this tier could now see top speeds between 15 and 25 Mbps in their speed deliveries. Pricing remains the same as the old “Up to 12Mbps” tier.

Advanced: This name will replace the old “Up to 25Mbps” speed tier. Many members in this tier could now see top speeds between 30 and 50 Mbps in their speed deliveries. However, this is the tier most likely to be limited by geographic and rooftop radio limits, as we discuss in this article. Pricing remains the same as the old “Up to 25Mbps” tier.

Again, these names will first appear on your May 10 invoice. We may refer to them earlier than May 10, however, so make sure you understand which tier your account is in. And remember, no speeds are guaranteed, as discussed here.
