LCWA Member Profile: Harold Grantham and Broken Saddle
Living in the high deserts outside of Santa Fe, you’ll find many people who have carved off a successful and heartfelt business that suits their special character. Harold Grantham is one of those people. Back in 1993 Harold was taking care of a horse ranch outside of town and it occurred to him that visitors to Santa Fe needed a place to rent and ride high-quality horses in the desert. He loved taking people riding and meeting new people, so Broken Saddle was founded, tucked away in the canyons just outside of the historic old mining town of Cerrillos.
Another New Access Point (AP) Is Activated in LCWA!
As you know, LCWA delivers its Internet service wirelessly, via radio tower Access Points (APs), to your home. We are constantly expanding those APs to help more rural Santa Fe people who cannot normally get Internet. On August 31, our latest new AP went live near Seton Village and it will improve and add coverage to many, many families.
LCWA Board Considering more Paid Staff
As we have grown, and the networks have become more complex, we have recognized the need for technical expertise and time commitment that is beyond asking for volunteers to perform. Thus, we currently have part-time contractors to fulfill three critical jobs: Network Engineer (Reiney), Infrastructure Engineer (Phil), and Accounting (Noelle). These roles have been in place for some time now and have worked well. But as our membership count and infrastructure grows further, the board is reviewing other critical areas where we may need part-time paid contractors for customer support. As a member please weigh in now, in the comments of the post, if you have strong feelings, one way or another, about us adding more paid roles. Thanks!
